AGM 15TH SEPTEMER 2010

MINUTES OF MEETING

 

PRESENT

CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT

Jane welcomed everyone to the meeting. She then went on to say about the disco’s and the coffee evening that the Parent Council has organised in the past year. It was also reported that the Parent Coucil got a grant for a notice board for the school. The school is waiting for the board to be installed near the gates.

TREASURER’S REPORT

A copy of the summary sheet for the year ending 31st July was given to all attending. Funds are healthy enough at the moment.

MATTERS ARISING

Family Halloween Disco will hopefully be held on Thursday 28th October if the dj is available, if not the Thursday then Tuesday 26th as an alternative. Fiona C to contact Kirsty to see dj. The time will be 6.30 – 8pm. Price is 50p per person or £2.00 per family of 4 or more. Juice and crisps will be available 20p and 30p.

COFFEE EVENING

The coffee evening will  be on Thursday the 25th November 6.30 – 8pm. Stalls to include books, bric-a-brac, bottle draw, cake and candy. Sandra to look into the possibility of calendars being made with the holiday dates marked on them. Letters to be handed into shops to ask for donations for the raffle. Grove Bedding donation a 4’ 6” bed and 2 memory foam pillows for the raffle.

Minutes 30th January 2008
 

Present
Liz Brown, Keith Belleville, Barbara Adams, Elaine Weir, Fiona Cowburgh and Kirsty McPherson.

Matters Arising

Speakers for side playground.  There is no longer a request for money from the Friends of Langlee to fund this.  The money is coming from the School Council money raised from Halloween Dress down and the rest is coming from Ring Fence.

Chairpersons report

Kirsty was able to let all present at this meeting know that Mrs Adams will be remaining at the school until summer 2009.  Kirsty proposed that Dave Houston be co opted onto the Council.

Treasurers Report

Funds very healthy sitting at £1,600.00.  The money that was allocated to the School Office for petty cash has been well used and no more is needed.

Correspondence

School Session Changes.  Information regarding this was given to all parents present there is more information to come regarding letting the parent forum know this information and how it will be fed back to the Council.

A request has come in for money to purchase items for the indoor play, a Knex set at £29.99 and 2 dolls at £14.99.  This was approved.

Any Other Business

Valentine Discos.  These will be held on Monday 18th of February due to the half term holidays.  Dave will do the disco as usual, juice and crisps to be bought, admission 50p, times will again be 5.45pm to 6.45pm and 7.15pm to 8.15pm.  Kirsty to fill out booking forms for hall.

Quiz Night will be held on Friday 25th of April &pm for 7.30pm start, Kirsty to fill out booking forms for hall.  It was decided to try bring your own drink for this event as not much profit was made at the last quiz but at lot of work was needed to set up and run the bar.  £10 entry per team no more than 4 members.  Friends of Langlee will provide snacks for the tables and plastic cups.  Keith is arranging the quiz and will produce posters for the event.

Schools 50th celebrations, 2008 / 2009 will be the 50th year of Langlee Primary School, Keith is looking for volunteers from school and community to be on a committee to organise events through out the year. The Langlee Carnival was discussed as a launch for these events.  Also discussed was commemorative items for all pupils and staff etc, Logos designed by the pupils, sources of funding a 50 club, concert of music through the 59 years though this may depend on there being a music teacher.  Any one interested to contact Keith.

An Anti Bulling Policy has been drawn up for the school a copy was given to all parents to view and put forwards any comments.

The PLP have changes slightly if any parents have feedback to contact Mrs Adams.

Name of Parent Council

The first topic for discussion was the name of the Parent Council it was decided to continue with the name Friends of Langlee

A list of E mail address will be drawn up and circulated and minutes will be sent this way where ever possible.  Copies will be on display in the school and hopefully on the website FC & JG to contact Mrs Belville regarding website.

Halloween Disco

Our usual DJ is not available on the 1st Nov,  Mr Wilson has been approached and is also unable to do this date.
(Since this meeting has taken place an other date has been decided and Dave Houston is available on that date) Public Liability insurance to be looked into FC to contact insurers / Leona Bendall at SBC. Booking forms have been completed and handed in. Most members of the Parent Council will be able to help on the night, it was suggested by B Adams that each of us tries to bring along another parent also.

Coffee Evening

This will take the usual format on Thursday 29th Nov 6.30pm to 8pm.

Roundabout Café to be approached regarding assistance with teas and coffees, and possible use of urns / flasks.  Also look into cost of purchase of own equipment for general school use. FC & KMcP   Main prize for raffle to be TV DVD combi GO to look for best price.  Hampers also these will be made up like last year with donations from the pupils.  SF will look for baskets. Parent and staff helpers needed on night Raffle tickets to be printed ASAP  K McP Draft letter to companies for donations of raffle prizes  FC & JG

 Xmas Parties

 Gifts to be decided FC will have suggestion for all to look at on the night of the Halloween Disco.  Icecream, prizes and Santa KMcP

Treasurers Report

With the change in the constitution of the PTA the funds that were in their account will now come to us.  This stands at £1073.85

Any Other Business

There is to be an information night at the nursery and also a drug informatio9n evening all parents are to be encouraged to attend these evening where possible.

Concerns were brought up about the House Point system and the Green Day Cards, there seems to be a degree of confusion regarding both of these issues and there have been many cases of pupils commenting on how certain pupils are being rewarded.  Some of these points were clarified but information may need to be provided to parents regarding the above matters.

There will be an informal meeting at the Halloween Disco if any business needs to be discussed.
